To know Revival is to know Auggie Wasmund. Here is his origin story and the timeline that helped shape Revival.
How firsthand frustration shaped who Revival is today.
Revival was born out of frustration. When my own GC went bankrupt and I knew no one was coming to save me, I chose to self-rescue. That moment became my origin story—and it still defines who I am today. The name was no accident.

Infill Development
While large developers were contributing to Salt Lake’s suburban sprawl, I saw an opportunity to bring attainable housing downtown—without consuming farmland or habitat. My first project sold out in a weekend. I knew I was onto something.

Adaptive Reuse
I quickly picked up a former candy factory (Taffy Town) and worked to preserve its original structure. My townhome deals had already proven my thesis: good design matters. I wanted to push myself—to design something new while reviving something old. What better challenge than an old factory with a double-barrel roof?

Downtown Apartments & Condos
As larger developers started running my own playbook against me, land prices surged. But with strong market demand at my back, I pressed forward—moving fast to stay ahead and be first to (sub)market.

Private Equity
I was recruited by the architects behind the Opportunity Zone legislation to help start a private equity firm. The goal was to prove that OZ investing didn’t have to be an either/or proposition—private equity could be both profitable and drive meaningful change.

Taking the Leap
With a little bit of runway and a few partners in tow, I set out to develop my first townhomes. I hired my former GC—the one who had once saved a project that was 10 months behind and $9 million over budget. They handled architecture, engineering, and construction—until they didn’t.I woke up one morning to find they had gone bankrupt overnight. With a baby on the way and no clear path forward, I decided to take matters into my own hands. That’s when Revival Construction was born. What started as small steps grew into bigger ones, and within three years, I had built a team.

Why We Love Adaptive Reuse
Adaptive reuse is our favorite kind of project because it keeps the soul intact. It’s the smell of an old ski boat or the rumble of a Harley—character you just can’t replicate. Sure, new can be faster, like a Tesla or a microwave, but no one ever asked for a microwaved hamburger.
Spaces With Soul
Instead of starting from scratch, we transform what’s already there into something fresh and functional. You end up with a space that carries history, character, and authenticity—qualities that can’t be replicated in new builds.
More Value, Less Waste
By reusing existing structures, you save money on materials and avoid unnecessary demolition. It’s a smarter investment that stretches your budget while also being better for the environment.
Faster To Finish
Because the foundation is already in place, projects move quicker than traditional builds. That means you can open your doors, welcome customers, and see returns on your investment sooner.

Note From The Founder
I started Revival after spending my career on all sides of development—GP, LP, construction, and private equity. I’ve sat in the operator’s seat across more than 1,000 units of multifamily development and 173,000 square feet of commercial space, representing roughly $460 million in projects. That experience gave me a clear view of what works, what doesn’t, and what owners deserve but rarely receive.
Before Revival, I helped build a private equity firm here in Salt Lake City as the first employee. During my time there, I helped raise and deploy $175 million into transformative developments across the country. Earlier, I led the land team and managed projects for a local development firm, helping take it from startup to a major player by reshaping downtown housing. I’ve also worked closely with the Economic Development Corporation of Utah and the Governor’s Office to help pass legislation designed to revitalize rural Utah through development.
My career has been shaped by viewing the industry from every angle—developer, builder, investor, and policymaker. And through all of it, one thing remained constant: the gap between what owners expect and what they are actually given. As clients of general contractors ourselves, we experienced that gap firsthand. It’s the reason Revival exists.
I founded Revival on transparency, accessibility, and ownership. We treat every project like it’s our own—because, in many ways, it is. As temporary partners in your business, we need these projects to go well for everyone involved. Our success depends on it.
